Two individual championships and a team title were had by Carroll’s cross country teams Saturday at the Northrop sectional.
Junior Preston Sloffer, in the first ever individual win of his high school career, claimed first place in the boys race. Senior Zoe Duffus continued another successful season with a win in the girls race, leading the Lady Chargers to their 21st straight sectional trophy.
All five of Carroll’s scorers in the girls race placed in the top seven. Duffus won her third sectional championship, crossing the finish line in 17:39.6 to best runner-up Addison Knoblauch, of Homestead, by nearly a minute and a half. Ashlyn Minton (third), Brooke Hansen (fourth), Taylor Hansen (fifth) and Madalyn Ruch (seventh) finished out the scoring for Carroll. The Chargers defeated runner up Concordia 20-60.
In the boys race, Sloffer finished in 16:12.2 to beat Concordia’s Karsten Schlegal by nearly seven seconds. The Carroll boys finished second on the afternoon, while Concordia placed first with 47 points.
