Carroll’s softball team picked up a 7-3 victory over East Noble on May 4.

The Carroll girls ran up a 5-1 lead with a run in the first and four in the second. East Noble scored a run in the first as well.

Both teams scored twice in the second to make the score 7-3.

The final three innings were scoreless.

Despite the more lopsided score, Carroll only had two more hits than East Noble at 10-8.

Carroll’s Courtney Thomas had three hits and three runs in three at-bats.

London Cupp led the team with three RBI and also had a hit and a run.

Josie Fett tallied two hits and two RBI, and Malina Richardson had two runs, two hits and an RBI.

East Noble was led by Carly Turner with two runs, two hits and an RBI.

Baylee Uhrick pitched four innings, striking out four and giving up five hits and three runs.

Josie Fett pitched three innings, striking out four.

Carroll 22, DeKalb 0

Carroll’s softball team blew out DeKalb on May 7, 22-0.

The Chargers scored five runs in the first, three in the second, eight in the third, four in the fourth and two in the fifth — ending the game on the 10-run rule.

Carroll recorded 16 runs two DeKalb’s two. The Barons had six errors.

London Cupp scored five runs in the game, as well as three hits and an RBI in four at-bats.

Madeline Goheen led the team in RBIs with four, an also had three hits in three at-bats.

Faith Mcclure had three RBIs.

Baylee Uhrick pitched all five innings with an impressive 10 strikeouts.

Carroll softball downs Highland

Carroll’s softball team posted a comeback to defeat Highland on May 1, 5-3.

Highland led 2-0 in the second inning. Carroll tied the game at two in the fourth.

Highland took back the lead in the top of the fifth with a run, but Carroll scored three in the sixth to win 5-3.

Baylee Uhrick and Malina Richardson head had three hits and a run. Courtney Thomas, Madeline Goheen and Molly Wallace had two hits apiece.

Scoring runs for Carroll were Thomas, Wallace, Josie Fett, Uhrick and Richardson.

Fett pitched five innings with two strikeouts.

Girls top Bishop Luers

Carroll’s softball team slowly ran up a lead on Bishop Luers en route to a 4-1 win on April 29.

Carroll scored runs in the first, third and fifth frame before Luers scored its first and only run in the sixth. Carroll tacked on one more run in the seventh, icing the cake on the 4-1 victory.

Courtney Thomas led the Chargers with three of the team’s five hits. She scored all four runs.

Shaelyn Peters pitched four innings, striking out six. Josie Fett pitched three innings with five strikeouts.

Leo uses big second frame to win

Leo’s softball team scored all of its runs in the second inning to defeat Carroll 5-3.

Carroll scored first with a run in the first, followed by Leo’s big inning that made the score 5-1. Carroll scored a run each in the fifth and seventh innings, but fell short in the end.

Courtney Thomas scored all three Carroll runs, and also recorded two hits. London Cupp had two hits and Madeline Goheen, Deven Hamilton and Madelyn Helmkamp all had one hit apiece.

Shaelyn Peters pitched two innings and Helmkamp pitched four frames.

Carroll 12, Norwell 1

Carroll’s softball team blew out Norwell, 12-1, on May 6.

The Chargers led 3-1 in the first inning. They went on to score two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth to win 12-1. Carroll had 18 hits to Norwell’s two.

Carroll’s Molly Wallace led the team with four hits in four at-bats. Baylee Uhrick had two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Malina Richardson had three hits in three at-bats. She also recorded three RBI and two runs. Also scoring two runs were Courtney Thomas and Kendall Schrock.

Josie Fett pitched all five innings, striking out eight and giving up two hits.
