The Indiana Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving recently recognized Trooper Ben Walker of the Fort Wayne Post for his efforts to detect and remove impaired drivers from Indiana roadways.

In 2020, of the 111 motorists that Walker investigated for impaired driving behavior, 56 were arrested for Operating While Intoxicated. Walker’s supervisor, Sgt. Matt Lazoff, said, “Trooper Walker is aggressive in his patrol style, yet extremely professional. He embodies the character, attitude, and effort expected of an Indiana state trooper, and his dedication to duty reflects greatly upon himself and the Indiana State Police.”

Walker is a graduate of the 78th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy (2018). He was first assigned to the Toll Road Post, and then in April of 2020 was granted a transfer to the Fort Wayne Post, where he is assigned to road patrol duties in Steuben County. Two of Walker's classmates, Trooper Dennis Griffin and Trooper Israel Rosillo, both assigned to the Lowell Post, were also recognized by MADD during the May 24 ceremony.
