HUNTERTOWN — Most Fort Wayne-area teachers haven’t seen their students in person since March, but Northwest Allen County Schools wanted to give staff and students one more opportunity to reconnect before the end of an unorthodox year.

NACS and other Fort Wayne school districts have been attending school exclusively through distance learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Students from Hickory Center, Cedar Canyon, Huntertown and Arcola elementary schools took part in parades over the past two weeks to express their appreciation for one another while still exercising social distancing practices.

The Cedar Canyon, Arcola and Huntertown parades took place at the schools, with families driving along long lines of school staff, waving and letting them know how much they are missed. Hickory Center staff paraded through nearby neighborhoods.
