Fort Wayne Southwest Fit Body Bootcamp temporarily closed its doors March 17. The closing followed guidance from Gov. Eric Holcomb on preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

But that didn’t mean the end of workouts. By 5:30 a.m. the following day, fitness center owners Kim and Jon Permenter were broadcasting their workouts live online for their members.

The fitness center is at 4916 Illinois Road.

While fitness videos can be found all over the internet, Kim said the secret to getting people involved is creating a community around them.

Fort Wayne Southwest Fit Body Bootcamp now offers a 30-day online program to help others get in shape and stay connected from home.

“In a time of social isolation, where all fitness facilities are closed, I have over 150 clients engaged in Facebook Live videos, posting sweaty selfies, and supporting and encouraging each other,” Permenter said.

“I love the opportunity to continue to workout ’together’ with the coaches and other members of my gym,” said Heather Dahman, a member of FBBC. “Due to the Shelter in Place, I’m working from home. The daily workouts help keep me active and allow me to workout on my schedule and my coaches help keep me on track with my fitness goals even though we’re apart. I also love that we still have a feeling of togetherness which really helps right now.”
