Four local nonprofits received $5,000 each thanks to the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne’s #GivingTuesdayFW Challenge.

Each year, the Community Foundation urges all nonprofits with endowment funds at the Community Foundation to participate in the challenge.

This year, the Community Foundation helped raise $19,700 for local nonprofits. The nonprofit to raise the most money in each of our four giving areas received a surprise $5,000 check on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30.

The four nonprofits and their giving areas are:

• Cinema Center, in Arts and Culture;

• Community Harvest Food Bank, in Health and Human Services;

•Fort Wayne Astronomical Society, in Community Development;

• Fort Wayne Center for Learning, in Education.

“We want to thank all of the individuals who donate to help the nonprofits in our community,” said Alison Gerardot, vice president of Philanthropic Services and Women’s Fund coordinator. “As we continue to recover from the pandemic, it’s the generosity of our community that will help nonprofits to grow and thrive. We continue to be inspired by philanthropy in our community, on Giving Tuesday and beyond.”

All four surprise check presentations can be found online on the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne’s Facebook Page.

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is a public charitable foundation, serving Allen County since 1922.
