The Junk Yard Band, a Northeast Indiana oldies rock quintet known for performing music from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, will return to Roanoke’s Cottage Event Center Friday, May 14. The 7:30 p.m. concert is a benefit for the Roanoke Lions Club. Members of that club will be on site grilling and selling burgers.
The group began playing over 40 years ago, rehearsing next to a salvage yard, which led to the band’s name. They have performed at the Fort Wayne Bicentennial, Three Rivers Festival, James Dean Festival and numerous area festivals, fairs and car shows. The lineup is Rick Brown, keyboards, sax, vocals; Don Miles, drums and vocals; Dale Pequignot, lead vocals; Mike Hockaday, bass and vocals; and Guy Platter, guitar and vocals.
Tickets cost $12 and are on sale at John’s Meat Market in Roanoke, by calling 260-483-3508, or online at cottageeventcenter.com. A cash bar will be available as well as the burgers and other food provided by the Lions Club.
The Cottage Event Center, at 9524 U.S. 24 N at Locust Drive in Roanoke, is owned and operated by Hamilton Hospitality Group.
