The Carroll girls soccer team, currently ranked No. 18 in Class 3A, was on both the winning and losing end of shutouts last week before a weeklong break in the regular-season schedule.

The Chargers improved to 3-2 with an 8-0 blowout victory over Snider on Sept. 1 at Kreager Park — scoring five goals in the first half and three in the second. Freshman Leila Mojtahedi led all scorers with a pair of goals on the night. Also scoring for the Chargers were Kelsi Hoot, Ella Theard, Alex Shaw, Jessica Till, Madelynn Welker and Regan Konow. Senior Sarah Mullins assisted two of those goals, and Mojtahedi, Welker and Emmersyn Hunter each added one assist.

The Chargers were defeated by Bishop Dwenger — No. 4 in Class 2A — 1-0 on Aug. 31. The Saints’ Grace Morris scored the only goal of the night, with the assist by fellow junior Ellen Hartzog. It was the Saints’ first game since competing for the 2019 Class 2A state championship against eventual champions Evansville Mater Dei.
